Resort 2015 Behind the Scenes

Here is a cute little behind the scenes video of latest vintage shoot.   I have to say, carry the vintage clothing on our site, is a total labour of love, and passion of mine.   We ain't running off to Tahiti with the margins on this line I tell ya. But it is something that everyone here at preloved, just loves.  It is the thrill of the find that keeps us all going,  and it continues to inspires us in our design process of our own collections.  So take a peek here, and here!  For the record, I am the only one in the office, that can truly work the fan!!  It's not in the arms, it takes the whole body !! That's 20 years experience right there!

Coming Soon! Spring 2015

Oh it's coming  It may not feel like it these days, but before you know spring 2015 will be here,  Along with it comes our incredible spring summer collection.    We shot the collection the other day, and here is a sneak peak of what will be hitting getpreloved.com on February 15th!  Can't wait.  Don't ask about the pineapples.  It was the most tropical accessory we could find in the middle of January.  and just happens to be my kids favourite fruit.  gotta love a set you can eat!

Holidaze at preloved HQ

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with friends, family, and champagne.  We had our holiday celebration here at preloved HQ equipped with sushi and a vintage scarf table runner! We took some fun festive photos around the office, making use of our resources ..white backdrop, tripod and photoshop abilities.... notice that 2 of our social media interns were unable to make it to the party...but were easily photoshopped into the group shot!...It was like they were here the whole time...Then of course,  we had to send off our dear designer, Yuko to Japan for her own month long Holidaze ! Oh January can't go fast enough! xox

DIY Distressed Denim

What You'll Need // Seam Ripper, Scissors, Measuring Tape ! 

Can either start with basic denim shorts, or grab an old pair of jeans and cut them at about 3 inches down from the inner crotch seam . 

Use a seam ripper to make a small hole where you want the distressed-ness to be . Start off small and work your way sideways and up, pull out some loose threads to loosen up the fabric and create your desired amount of rips . 

TIP ! Don't over-do the rips, as they'll grow and fray a bit in the wash & with wear and tear as well . 

 You may also need an intern Joanna for this project . 

To create the raw edge at the bottom pull out some loose strands as well . 

add heels, drop the kids off at grandma's , and you are ready for hot date night!  Or add flip flops,  a cocktail and hit the dock, for your cottage chic outfit!  I am a little obsessed with this distressed denim look.  I think every pair of jeans I own, now has holes in it!  Here's hoping intern Joanna will be here to help patch them up, when the patch denim trend of fall 2014 hits!

The Glamorous Life

In the heat of the summer, is when the team at preloved, is in the heat of processing vintage wool sweaters. To be honest it seems like we never stop processing wool sweaters, but during June and July we are in the thick of it.  It takes a lot of time, ( and hands) to sort though over 100'000 sweaters, which is what we will need to create our Fall 2014 line.  The sweaters need to be inspected for damage,  colour blocked,  sorted into texture groupings,  prepped for washing, then we hand them over to them over to the manufacturing team,  which is where the real magic begins! So as you are sitting on patio's this summer, feeling like fall is a million miles away....rest assured that the team at preloved is hard a work, creating the prefect winter sweater for you! xox

preloved for Indigo

Had a great day today, over at the offices of Indigo.  Despite the horrible rain this morning, Lexie and I   (and Stefanie, our photographer intern) were on time. With Starbucks in hand we were ready to start planning  our Holiday 2014 assortment, with the buying team at Indigo.   It is so much fun to work with this team, and be apart of the Indigo experience.   The Holiday Collection won't be available till end of October, but in the mean time take a look at the preloved for Indigo collection that's available now.  Perfect for mothers day...just saying!

No Joke

  April fools day, seemed like the perfect day to launch our new site,  getpreloved.com Let me tell you , this project  has been no joke at all.  A ton of work, blood sweat and tears went in to building this new site, and I want to thank everyone who has helped out.  It is a project that will continue to evolve as we evolve in the ever changing cyber world. But I think we have a great start and we couldn't have done it with out, Chickle Designs,  Ian Martins, Lise Varrette, Heidi Jirotka, Lisa Davidson, and the incredible team at preloved! and of course our fantastic customers!  Thanks so much for making opening day such a success!

Photography 101

We had the very talented Lise Varrette in our new offices the other day.  She came to shoot a few more shots of the new spring 2014 collection for the website.  ( launcing any day now!) Lise was kind enough to give me a few pointers on how to use my camera.  Not sure I will ever be able to caputre beauty the way Lise can, but here's hoping I can take some fun shots of Lexie and the gang!

Here is a little sneak peak of our spring summer collection.  This collection will be arriving to preloved.ca mid to end of February....here's hoping for more mid, then end.....but hey, Rome was not build in a day. Who knew how much work goes into building a killer website.  I have to thank my friends over at chickle designs who are working around the clock, trying get this merchandise to the Efloor.  When it's ready...you will be the first one to know...promise!  In the mean time, here is a look at the behind the scenes of our photo shoot with the very talented Ian Martins

Here is your first look at the brand new factory for  WS and Company  WS and Co has been making preloved clothing for over 8 years now, and together, we have come up with incredible ways to mass produce the unique one of a kind preloved garments.  WS  has a commitment to excellence , an attention to detail and are true craftsmen at their trade. We are so thrilled to be apart of the WS family, and couldn't be happier for them and their factory expansion.  Gosh, we so excited about the new factory. we might just move in....just saying.....

Inspiration Nation

With this little bit of a mid season, thaw, it has me very excited Spring 2014.  Arriving mid February, is our first delivery of our Spring 2014 collection.  Totally inspired by the city of Marrakesh.  Not like I have ever been there, but this collection is full of easy, breezy silhouettes, cut outs and gorgeous embellishments. Taking rich, bold-patterned fabrics mixed with perforated leather, creating one-of-a-kind  pieces that will inspire customers to experiment with colour and material blocking.  Oh this is gonna be good!
