So excited to bring back Staff Picks!

This week I’m thrilled to talk to Kirsten [kirs10alexa], our Production Coordinator. I HAD to ask her a few questions, so you guys get to know her better. She’s the newest edition to our small, hardworking, and adorable team.

NICK NAME:

"In my first year in high school, I went by the name 'Minnie' back then I thought it was cool. looking back now ... oh man what was I thinking. But one of my closest friends calls me by "kirs" its no nickname but hey its better then Minnie."

POSITION:

"Production Coordinator at Preloved. I love the creative side when it comes to picking and selecting the vintage for the up coming styles for the season. You never know what you'll find when you're at the Rag houses. To see the Final Product is my favourite part of the job!"

A MOVIE THAT MADE YOU CRY:

"UP! You would never except a Disney movie  to start off with such a sad story. When it first starts off with Carl and Ellies as kids, then later shows their lives together. The death of his wife made me cry"

FAVOURITE TORONTO PAST-TIME:

"Being a young mom and working like crazy, can get overwhelming. So in my past time I like to take trips on the ferry boat to the Island and walk around. Just enjoying the view especially in the fall and winter, as the leafs fall or when it's snowing, its just so beautiful."

LISTENING TO:

"I've been recently listening to a lot of Mariah Carey. From 1995- 2010 Mariah Carey's albums never gets old. I like listening to music in the late 90's/early 2000"

Behind The Scenes for SS15

A lot of creative things happen in and around the office, but photoshoots are definitely one of the many most fun things . It's great to see awesome models rock our collection and bring the clothes to life ! Photoshoot days are sometimes over the top stressful, but our team keeps up the energy and we power through with sushi !

It was a blast working with pretty model Aislinn for the first time, and frequent make up artist Carmen ! (@plutino)

Jules Approved: Fall Must Haves

1. STATEMENT SWEATER // PRELOVED
Cozy sweaters are always a fall must have. This Sadie sweater is made of vintage sweaters with a statement heart piece. It's also fully lined (but scratch free) to keep you warm in the chilly fall weather.

2. WOOL HAT // H&M
 Not ready to say goodbye to summer yet? Update your summer floppy hat to a smaller, black wool hat to transform a summer trend to fall trend.

3. NECKLACE // ANTHROPOLOGIE 
Chunky necklaces instantly make any outfit more feminine and romantic. They are the perfect way to add a pop of colour and sparkle to your casual appearance.

4. HIGH RISE JEANS // J BRAND
High rise jeans are a must have this season because of trending crop tops and crop sweaters... Not to mention tucking in the mummy tummy!

5. OVERSIZED CLUTCH // ROOTS
 This casual bag is perfect for day or night. It double functions as a casual cross-body bag or a more formal oversized clutch. It's neutral and soft colours make it easy to wear regardless of the occasion. 

6. SLINGBACK BOOTIE // ZARA
This pair of slingback booties spice up your usual pair of ankle boots. Cut outs at the back of the boot are very unique and trending this season. The best part is you can wear these boots with a dress or a pair of jeans... I haven't taken them off since I bought them.

7. LIPSTICK // CHARLOTTE TILLBURRY
Charlotte Tilburry's Matte Revolution lip offers many different shades but this dark, bold lip is a beauty must have this fall. Plus, Charlotte Tilburry just recently started being shipped to Canada so be one of the first to own her products!

8. EARRINGS // J. CREW
This pair of crystal bug earrings adds a little sparkle of personality to any outfit. They are the perfect size to be a statement piece but aren't distracting from the rest of your outfit.

9. LEATHER BOOTIES // STEVE MADDEN
Leather ankle boots hit the list again, but this time with a comfort focus. These little heels are comfortable to wear all day. The brown, plain colour is easy to match with but the quilted texture adds a little bit of flare.

10. QUILTED JACKET // PRELOVED
Anything quilted is very on trend this season. The Genie jacket is unlike any jacket you will find this fall. I'm especially loving the quilted arms, leather trim and cropped waistline.

JULES APPROVED: Halter Dress

1. SHORT NECKLACE // H&M 
With the high-neckline nature of a halter top, you'll need a short simple necklace as an accessory. This chain necklace will add just the right amount of bling, without taking away the from the halter style.

2. FUN PRINT // PRELOVED.CA
Pattern mixing is always a fine art, but never be afraid to give it a try. With this halter dress, it's already combined two fun patterns so you don't need to work it out yourself.

3. 50'S INSPIRED // KENZO
You can't really think halter dress without thinking Marilyn Monroe or the 50's for that matter. This cute flared dress is fit for a cocktail party or for a drive around town in a convertible.

4. STRAPPY SANDAL // ZARA
It's a bit early to approve sandals, here in Canada ... But we can be hopeful and stock up on some sandals to prepare for some sunshine which will go perfectly with any halter style dress to look extra Goddess-esque.

5. CROCHET // MODCLOTH
There are some amazing crochet and lace halter dresses out there, and it will have you feeling extra whimsical and sophisticated in this off-white flowy piece.

6. SHOULDER BAG // REBECCA MINKOFF
Throwing on yesterday's dress to run out for errands? You'll need this (cult classic) shoulder bag to hold just what you need.

Since floral is a must for spring, why not have a floral halter dress?

8. LEAF HEADBAND // ASOS.COM
Again, playing off of the Goddess look, add a golden leaf headband for a basic accessory.

9. MAXI // MICHAEL KORS 
Go for a long plain maxi dress with a colour you love, for a quick go to outfit. Perfect for dressing up too !

I love our new Palais Dress.  It is the perfect weekend dress, just add a cardy and heals and you are weekend ready! Well I guess it depends on what you are doing . You may need to add Sorrels and a ski jacket this weekend, but hey once that snow melts, you are ready to go!  If you are in Toronto this weekend, stop by our  pop up and pick up your very own palais dress. JULES APPROVED: Colour-Blocking

1. HEELS // ZARA
"Don't wear black with navy" is somehow a fashion rule, but i'm sure we all know that colourblocking black and blue is totally okay! This heel is already colourblocked, but if you have a bold coloured heel, pair it with other brights or neutrals to do your own colourblocking .

2. PATTERNED SKIRT // BOOHOO
Patterns with solid colours are ways to colour block without clashing two bright or contrasting colours. Stay en-trend with monochrome and colour blocking with black and white patterns with solid colours.

3. BLOUSE // TED BAKER
Get ready for spring with some floral and baby pink! Slowly inch your way into full on floral during the winter to spring transition.

4. TIGHTS // FOREVER 21
Transform whatever you already have in your closet to a colourblocked outfit just by adding coloured tights. These come in any colour you can imagine, plus they're super inexpensive to experiment with.

5. SHADES // ASOS.com
Colourblocked sunnies are great for those that are stepping out of their comfort zone with bright colours. These sunglasses have colour on the inside, but still very chic and trendy.

6. NAIL VARNISH // ESSIE
Don't forget about the manicure! Not only can your clothes and accessories be colourblocked, your nails can follow the trend too. Plus, colourblocking is probably the easiest DIY manicure to do! (Tip: use tape.)

7. HAT // STAMPD
Having a bad hair day won't stop you from being fab! Have a go to beanie to conceal a bad hair day that can go with any outfit, or just to keep you warm and cozy.

8. BLUE MASCARA // DIOR 
Use some colourful mascara on your lashes over your eye make up for a easy colourblocking make up look. Just swipe on like any other mascara and go!

9. BRIGHT PURSE // 3.1 PHILIP LIM 
Contrast your outfit with a coloured purse. If your closet is already full of solid colours or bold patterns, and bag can help you colourblock for everyday outfits.

10. RAGLAN SLEEVE // PRELOVED
For more casual days, a raglan sleeve (AKA baseball sleeve) tee or dress is a great colourblocking option.
