How to Stick to your New Year's Resolution

January is the start of a brand new year, and many of us set new goals or "New Year's Resolutions" for ourselves as a way to better our life in some way or another. We usually have great intentions of sticking to our New Year's resolution too. Whether it be to break a bad habit, start a healthier lifestyle, or set other small goals. But, it can be hard to stick with it. Here are some great steps to ensure that you can make your resolution happen this year! #newyearnewme

 1. Create Your Resolution
Pick something that you have wanted to work on for a while, and use this time in January to gradually get used to the idea of beginning it. Sometimes we get too excited or carried away with the thought of flipping a switch when January comes, but if you really want to stick to your resolution - get used to the idea of it first. It should be a gradual thing that you grow into. Make lists or plans that relate to your resolution as well. Wrap your head around it so that you can be ready to face what you need to.

2. Be Realistic
When choosing a goal, it's great to be realistic. Take small steps towards your goal, and don't set too high of expectations for yourself.

3. Focus on one Thing at a Time
It takes a while to break a habit or get into a new routine - so take your time. Focus on one thing at a time - and take it one day at a time! It's great to have the full plan in mind, but don't focus on the end result right away. Be patient with yourself!

4. Be Positive
Try to have positive thoughts about your new years resolution. Do not speak negatively of it or put yourself down if it's not going the way you had planned. Also, surround yourself with people who support you. Having encouraging individuals that want you to succeed is such a helpful and positive thing to have when it comes to personal New Year's resolutions.

5. Review + Celebrate your Progress
Don't forget to reward yourself. Keep track of or document your progress - even keep a journal! It's fun to look back and see how far you have come. It's such a great feeling that will make you only want to keep it up!

Good luck and Happy New Year!!
