Being Julia: Rosy Pants

Winter outfits can look just as cute as spring ones when you style them with some neatral floral print and a pop of colour. That's exactly what I did for this outfit. I am wearing a pair of Preloved Rosy Pants with black and grey floral details printed on the front of them. I paired these Preloved Resort pants with a thrifted black knit turtleneck and my lovely lace-up Zara heels. I threw this baby blue coat on top of the outfit for a pop of colour and it completes the outfit along with the blue ring and metal bangles.

Being Julia: Wearing Skirts

I absolutely love this outfit! I usually struggle a bit with skirts - they are not a natural "go-to" for me, but when I do wear them, I always get "Where did you get that skirt'? And you know how much I love to say....preloved xoxo.... As you can see, I paired this Preloved Fyatt Skirt with the Danforth Sweatshirt, and that makes it super comfortable. Almost like wearing my favourite pair of jeans!

Being Julia - Throwback Trench

This skirt is still one of my all time favourite pieces.  As we embark on our 20th anniversary, I am having a ball going through some of  the preloved classics.   This skirt was made for our SS2009 collection, and is made from an old trench coat!  The design on this still blows me away,  although the pain of producing it is still fresh.  The Georgie Trench Skirt was produced back in the day, when the design team worked in one room, and the production team in another.  There wasn't a ton of communication between the two.  When I first saw this skirt in the design meeting, I fell in love, and thought it was totally a work of art!  What we didn't realize was how specific the vintage requirements were.  It had to be produced from double breasted trench coat (with perfect buttons)  the vent on the back of the coat had to be a certain measurement and the original pockets had to be in a certain placement.  I think we must have gone through thousands of trench coats, to find the ones that would be come the Georgie Trench Skirt.  This skirt was a turning point in how we produce, and how we design, and how the two teams need to work together!    Stay tuned for more preloved classics.  #prelovedturns20

Being Julia: Refresh & Renew

I really never bore of white on white, and I have been quite the rule breaker lately.  'No whites after labour day, or before the 24th of may' seems to have been thrown out the window lately.  I used to totally life by that rule.  Then they invented 'winter white'.  I think that had to have been one smart fashionable Canadian, that realized our summers are just too darn short, and white was meant to be apart of the wardrobe no matter what the temperature is!

Being Julia: Nearly Spring

The

These pants are still one of my all time favourite pants.  We originally made them for SS2010, ( A little ahead of the good old drop crotch trend) and are still completely on trend for this spring.  The asymmetrical tie, the 3/4 length and high waist are key points, that have this pant on mark for SS2015.  Not to mention they are made from 100% recycled wool..( vintage men's wool pants, given a new life).  I love the fact that here at preloved, we are able to create a classic piece that can be worn season after season.  Now my husband may not agree that a drop crotch pant is a classic, but what does he know!  xoxo

Being Julia : White Light/White Heat

I am not sure if March went out like a lamb or a lion, but I am little sad to see it go!  Oh don't get me wrong, I can't wait to toss away the sorrel boots, and bust out my toe exposed shoes,  but I am a little melancholy, that our winter season is over.  Over the years I have learned to not just 'deal' with winter, but totally embrace it. I don't know if its the cold mornings, with the sun bouncing off the snow that I love, or that every weekend, I trap my kids on a ski hill far far away from any Ipads.  Whatever it is, I will miss you Mr. Winter.  but may forget you quite quickly with the first glass of Chardonnay on the dock..just saying!

Being Julia: See Ya Latte

Went to Pittsburg yesterday to speak at the Art Institute.  I was the Key Note Speaker at their  fashion show, "Show With A Purpose'  I have been to 3 different states and 2 countries in almost 24 hours, Toronto to Atlanta then back up to Pittsburg, now from Detroit and home to Toronto ! I've mastered connecting to airport wifi connections now . I love these short little getaways, mainly spent at the airport, and a hotel bed to myself!!  but there is no place like home! (Note: Double Denim, Canadian Tuxedo)
